- NNNNAAAAMMMMEEEE
- netgroup - list of network groups
-
- DDDDEEEESSSSCCCCRRRRIIIIPPPPTTTTIIIIOOOONNNN
- _N_e_t_g_r_o_u_p defines network-wide groups, used for permission checking when
- doing remote mounts, remote logins, and remote shells. For remote
- mounts, the information in _n_e_t_g_r_o_u_p is used to classify machines; for
- remote logins and remote shells, it is used to classify users. Each line
- of the _n_e_t_g_r_o_u_p file defines a group and has the format
-
- groupname member1 member2 ....
-
- where member_i is either another group name, or a triple:
-
- (hostname, username, domainname)
-
- hostname: The ``preferred'' name of the client host, the host
- from which the _r_l_o_g_i_n(1C) or _r_s_h(1C) command is
- invoked. Note that the preferred name is the first
- name given to that host in the /_e_t_c/_h_o_s_t_s file.
- The second and later names are the _a_l_i_a_s_e_s for that
- preferred name. The preferred name is commonly the
- fully-qualified ``domain-style'' name.
-
- username: This is the simple user name string.
-
- domainname: This is the name of the domain of the _s_e_r_v_e_r
- system, not the client system.
-
- Any of three fields can be empty, in which case it signifies a wild card.
- Thus
-
- universal (,,)
-
- defines a group to which everyone belongs. Field names that begin with
- something other than a letter, digit or underscore (such as ``-'') work
- in precisely the opposite fashion. For example, consider the following
- entries:
-
- justmachines (analytica,-,sun)
- justpeople (-,babbage,sun)
-
- The machine _a_n_a_l_y_t_i_c_a belongs to the group _j_u_s_t_m_a_c_h_i_n_e_s in the domain
- _s_u_n, but no users belong to it. Similarly, the user _b_a_b_b_a_g_e belongs to
- the group _j_u_s_t_p_e_o_p_l_e in the domain _s_u_n, but no machines belong to it.
-
- CCCCAAAAVVVVEEEEAAAATTTTSSSS
- The netgroup data is used only when the nnnnssssdddd((((1111MMMM)))) daemon is running. It is
- supported in any of the protocol libraries included with Irix, but only
- one protocol may be used. Listing multiple protocols on the netgroups
- line in nnnnsssssssswwwwiiiittttcccchhhh....ccccoooonnnnffff((((4444)))) is not well defined.
